Sri Venkateswaraa College of Paramedical sciences and College of Physiotherapy Organized a NSS Orientation Programme held on 16th October 2025 served as a meaningful introduction for newly enrolled volunteers to the aims and objectives of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The event reflected the true spirit of the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” which emphasizes selfless service, empathy, and social responsibility among youth.

The programme commenced with an invocation and a welcome address by Mrs. S. Sowmiya, Assistant Professor cum NSS Programme Officer, who greeted the new volunteers and highlighted the objectives of the orientation, followed by an inspirational speech by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ananda Vayaravel, SVCPMS and Principal, Prof. Dr.S. Jeyanthi, SVCOPT who highlighted the importance of volunteerism and the vital role of students in nation-building. They encouraged the volunteers to utilize the NSS platform as an opportunity to develop their leadership qualities, teamwork, and sense of responsibility toward the community.

The session continued with a detailed orientation conducted by the State NSS officer and College Programme Coordinators, who elaborated on the aims, structure, and functioning of the NSS. They explained that the core objective of NSS is to develop the overall personality of students through community engagement and experiential learning. Volunteers were informed about various regular activities such as blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, health and environmental awareness rallies, and educational support initiatives.

The Coordinators also explained the importance of the Special Seven-Day Camps, where volunteers actively engage with rural or urban communities to promote awareness on crucial social themes like “Clean India,” “Health for All,” “Women Empowerment,” and “Environmental Sustainability.” These camps not only provide practical exposure but also strengthen the spirit of teamwork and civic commitment among participants.

In addition, the volunteers were briefed about the benefits of NSS participation, including the Certificate of Appreciation awarded after completing 240 hours of community service, which adds value to their academic and professional profiles. The program also emphasized that NSS volunteers gain significant life skills—such as leadership, communication, and social empathy—which contribute to their holistic development.

The session included an interactive Q&A, where volunteers actively engaged with the coordinators, sharing ideas and clarifying doubts about upcoming activities. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. B. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor cum NSS Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to the coordinators, volunteers, and participants, motivating everyone to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to community service and uphold the true essence of the NSS motto — “Not Me But You.”

 Date – 29 October 2025

To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, New Delhi, encouraged all NSS units across the nation to conduct various pre-events under the banner SARDAR@150 Unity March.

In this regard, the NSS Units of SVCPMS and SVCOPT jointly organized an Essay Competition on the topics Iron Resolve, Iron Nation, Ek Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Sardar Patel: Architect of United India, Nation First: From Patel to Modi on 29.10.2025 at 3:00 p.m in Mary Mcmillian Hall, SVCOPT.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. S. Jeyanthi, Principal, SVCOPT, who encouraged the students to embrace the principles of harmony, perseverance, and patriotism exemplified by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Dr. C. Ananda Vayaravel, Dean, SVCPMS, presided over the programme and highlighted the significant role of young citizens in fostering unity and contributing to the nation’s development. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the essay competition, which saw the participation of 30 students. The winners of the event were Jasmine (BPT 1st Year) and Mohammad Dhasthageer (B.Sc OTAT), who were recognized for their outstanding submissions.

The event was efficiently organized by Mrs. S. Sowmiya, Assistant professor cum NSS Programme Officer and Mrs. B. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor cum NSS Coordinator, with the assistance of faculty members who evaluated the essays. The students enthusiastic participation added great significance to the celebration, honouring the legacy of the Iron Man of India.

The NSS Unit of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Paramedical Sciences and College of Physiotherapy organized a Yoga Wellness Programme on 30th October 2025 in observance of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The session aimed to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being among students and faculty under the theme “Yoga for Harmony, Yoga for the Nation.”

The programme was Inaugurated by Dr.S.Jeyanthi, Principal, SVCOPT, who highlighted about  Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the patience, focus, inner peace of Yoga.The event was also  graced by Prof. Dr. C. Ananda Vayaravel Dean, SVCPMS, whose presence added great motivation to the event. The resource person, Mrs. Jayanthi, Yoga Therapist, conducted an engaging and interactive session demonstrating various yoga postures and breathing techniques that enhance concentration, flexibility, and relaxation.

100 NSS Volunteers actively took part in the yoga exercises and gained awareness of the importance of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The event was well organized by Mrs.S.Sowmiya, Assistant Professor cum NSS Programme Officer and Mrs. B. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor cum NSS Coordinator, SVCOPT.

To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the NSS Units of Sri Venkateswaraa College of Paramedical Sciences (SVCPMS) and Sri Venkateswaraa College of Physiotherapy (SVCOPT) jointly organized a National Unity Run (Pad Yatra) at Rock Beach, Puducherry.

The event was conducted under the guidance and instructions of Dr. Sathish Kumar, State NSS Officer, Puducherry, whose leadership and direction ensured the successful execution of the programme in line with the spirit of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) celebrations.Total 7 students were actively participated for the unity run. Among them, two students were from the College of Paramedical Science and five students were from the College of Physiotherapy.

The occasion was graced by the Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. C. Ananda Vayaravel, Dean, SVCPMS and Dr. S. Jeyanthi, SVCOPT Principal, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the enduring legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the architect of national integration.

The programme was coordinated by Mrs. S. Sowmiya, Assistant Professor cum NSS Programme Officer, and Mrs. B. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor cum NSS Coordinator, with enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers and staff members.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Paramedical Sciences and College of Physiotherapy commemorated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2025, an occasion celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). The colleges organized a special lecture titled “Vision of One India, Patel’s Role in Constitution” delivered by Mrs. M. Malinidevi, Senior Assistant Professor from the Department of Biochemistry.

The event was held in the Multipurpose Hall of SVCPMS from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM to honor the ‘Iron Man of India’ and reflect on his crucial efforts in the integration of princely states and his foundational contribution to the drafting of the Indian Constitution, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to unity and integrity.

The event was inaugurated by Dean Dr. C. Ananda Vayaravel, SVCPMS, and Principal Dr. S. Jeyanthi, SVCOPT presided over the programme and highlighted the significant role of young citizens in fostering unity and contributing to the nation’s development.

The event was efficiently organized by Mrs. S. Sowmiya, Assistant Professor cum NSS Programme Officer and Mrs. B. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor cum NSS Coordinator. The program concluded with NSS pledge, reinforced the message of unity envisioned by Sardar vallabhbhai patel.
